Life in the last month...

It seems that the last month has just flown by. I can not believe that Hadley has been around for a month!

Halloween was a weekend long event around here in east idaho. On Friday we went to a trick or treat street. The only problem with that is that everyone in idaho went to it. We waited in line to get in for one and a half hours only to wait in lines to get candy. Overall...it was a bit disappointing. We went to Aiden's school carnival that night and had a blast. We did bring the kids in to the Spook Alley. Aiden was so scared at one point that he jumped, got his foot caught on some fake spider webs and knocked down an entire spooky scene. It was hilarious. Needless to say, we left the spook alley after that! On Saturday we did some good old fashion trick or treating and enjoyed the night! Sunday was just a lazy day after that!

The hardest adjustment to Hadley is getting back on schedule. It is hard to get Aiden off to school and Hunter off to preschool in the mornings! We are so slow now!

Hadley is now a month old and growing like a weed. She is almost out of her newborn clothes and starting to smile. At her two week check she was 8 lbs 7 oz. I bet now she is over 9 lbs! She is a good sleeper at night as long as she is sleeping by someone. We are slowly working on that ;)

That is life for us now! Slow to get going but getting faster!

Stats and other stuff I forgot!

My friends, Kirsta and Kelly, pointed out that I left out a bit of detail! I did write that post in the hospital after I had been up for 14 hours and been through labor!

This time, again, I went without an epidural. I can honestly say that I really am not in too much pain until I hit transition. By the time I think that I want an epidural it is way too late. My mother in law likes to point out that this time I did yell out once ;).

The Big miss Hadley Girl was 8 pounds 5 ounces. I think most of it is in her cheeks! She was 20 inches long.

Aiden and Hunter adore her. The love to kiss her, freak out when she cries and like to hold her. Hunter was sicker than a dog throwing up this weekend and was really upset that she had to stay away from her.

Life as we know it has changed again. She is a beautiful addition to our family. So far the only complaint I have had is that she is a reluctant nurser. We are pushing through it and I hope to be victorious!!

Any other questions??? I am still running on my preggo brain....

BTW- I gained 28 pounds and I am down 21 already!! I just don't quite look the same ;)

And the name is....

Hadley Bristol Dawn Schmidt

We both liked the name Hadley and Bristol. I wanted to throw in the name Dawn because Christopher's middle name is Don. It was also his grandpa's name that shares a birthday with little Hadley.

Plus she started out as a big girl so she has to have a big name! ;)

The birth of Baby Girl Schmidt

So even as I blog this we still have not had time to talk about a name. She is still baby girl!

Last week on Thursday I came in for a routine exam. the doctor checked her position and found that she was breech!! I am very much so against c-sections and decided to let the doctor turn her from the outside. The procedure is called a external cephalic version...if you want to see it done you tube it! It was sucessful and they were able to turn the baby to a head down position. I was stoked becuase I no longer had to have a c-section. BUT there was a chance that she could turn back so I was nervous too.

On monday we had another appointment to make sure she ws still head down and that we could do a "normal birth." My doctor asked if I wanted to be inducted and I was like Heck yeah!! I wasn't going to wait for her to turn back around!

That brings us to today. We arrived here at 5 am! we meet with the nurse and I was hooked up to pitocin at 6. I was already dialated to a 5 so my nurse did not turn up the pitocin very high so she would not have to delivery, LOL. Her shift was over at 7. Over the next 3 hours they had a hard time getting me to contract consistently and strongly. Finally at 9 the contractions where hard enough for me to feel. By 10 I was in bed and at 11 then doctor walked in just in time to deliver the baby. I was able to deliver her in one contraction! A total of 3 minutes. Her face is a little bruised from being born so quickly though!

She has been sweet so far but she is a schmidt so we will see how long that lasts....

More pics to come!

Hunter the Cheerleader

Johnie, Christophers sister is a Rigby High school cheerleader. Hunter thinks it is the coolest thing in the world. This last week they did a clinic for the little girls and Hunter participated. She loved it! They learned a dance in two days then performed it at the foot ball game. I think Hunter just liked being in front of the crowd!

This is Hunter doing the dance. She really had a hard time remembering it and kept looking at Johnie for help!

More Camping!!!

When we went to Yellowstone last month we bought the pass that you can go to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park. We decided to take an overnight camping trip to Teton yesterday.

It was Gorgeous ! I could not believe how green it was or how huge the mountains were! This doesn't show the mountains that well but it really shows the green. We were on a four wheel trail for this pic...

We went to Jackson Lake the first day just to let the kids swim. It was really hot out but I do not know who those kids played in the water. The water was COLD!

On tuesday we went to Jenny Lake to see the Hidden waterfalls. The hike to the falls was 2.5 miles one way. We decided that taking the ferry across the lake would be worth it to save us about 4 miles. The kids thought it was pretty cool, and it was A LOT less whining! The Falls were awesome but there were way too many people!

New Projects

So I forgot to take before pictures but at least I took after pics! These are two projects that I have needed to do for the last year but since they were in Colorado I really couldn't get to them.

The first is a dresser that I got from my mom. It was in the worst shape. I think it was made in the 1920s or 1930s and needed a ton of repairs. The drawers were warped and water damaged and the bottom drawer was missing some pieces. We decided that we would keep the outer shell of the dresser and the drawer fronts and replace the actual drawers and back. We also decided to turn the top drawer into a shelf for baskets. I haven't decided what to do with it for sure. I think I will use it as a changing table/dresser for the new baby but I am not sure on the color. I think it will stay in its primer form until we are settled to where ever the next place we go!

The second was a black 80s looking chair we got from our friends. I just stripped and sanded the paint of and applied primer. I think it will be used in the new baby's room too so I haven't decided what color to paint it yet either!

Summer 2010

This summer has been busy. We enrolled Aiden in T-ball which he liked. We also went camping in Yellowstone National Park.

T-Ball: Aiden liked this much better than playing soccer. You don't have to be as aggressive ;)

Hitting the Ball

Camping-- Yellowstone is the coolest place to camp. We spent two nights in the North loop of the park. The first day that we were there the high was 40 degrees and it snowed that night. This was good though because it brought all the animals out. Overall, we saw three black bears, a momma grizzly and her cubs, and uncountable elk, deer and buffalo.

I had a furry little friend that came and stayed by us in the evenings. I liked him but Aiden wasn't so sure about him when he laid down about 20 feet from our tent

New Baby!

So two weeks ago we had an ultrasound to see how the baby was and if it was a boy or girl. We we lucky to see that it was a girl but measuring small so we really could not see anything else. We went in again today to get the complete ultrasound done. Everything looks great! Its a girl! She is measuring small but they decided to keep the same due date of October 24th.
The only thing that they did say is that she looks like she has clubfoot, on both feet. They couldn't really see it too well but even before the ultrasound tech said anything Christopher and I both thought that she looked like she had clubfoot. Thank goodness it is an easy fix and well, we have done it before!

PS After I scan so pictures I will add them!

Bunk Beds!

Our children have been bugging us for bunk beds since the beginning of the year. I saw a plans for bunk beds on a website called knock off wood( knockoffwood.blogspot.com) and I thought that it would be cool to make some. Thus began our 3 month journey with our bunks beds.

We did make them from scratch and they turned out really nice. I still see a ton of flaws and the color isn't exactly what I was thinking. But I do really like them! And I think they are the sturdiest bunk beds I have ever been on :)

It's offical!

We are pregnant! Or I guess that I am! I am about 11 weeks along and felling good. It was fun to tell the kids because they have really wanted a baby in our family, and they actually get it! I have been felling pretty good but a little tired :)

Here are the official pics of the little one. If you are ultrasound tech you might be able to tell what they show!

How Aiden spells Hunter....

Aiden has really started to understand the concept of words and spelling. He only has a few words memorized like his name, last name and his favorite....Avatar. Yesterday he was playing around and made up a new way to spell Hunter....A-S-#. Yes, you spell Hunter just like a donkey. It was the funniest thing! We could not stop laughing ;)

on a side note...we did explain that A-S-# spells a naughty word and we should not spell it.

THAT kind of chair...

I went out to lunch yesterday with Christopher's mom and Nana. I asked Hunter what kind of chair she wanted, meaning a high chair or a regular chair. She points to the table next to us and told me that she wanted that chair. I thought that she wanted the high chair, but she corrected me. She pointed again to the table next to us and said she wanted THAT kind of chair. I looked closer and there was an older women in a wheelchair. She thought it was the coolest thing to have a chair with wheels!

I love that girl.
