Go, Diego, Go

When asking our kids what they wanted to do this weekend Aiden said he wanted to walk and climb rocks. Aiden has always been into hikes and walks and so we decided to go hike in boulder. We went to a place right outside of eldorado canyon. Aiden having decided that we needed to hike also decided that he needed to carry a backpack up the mountain that we were going to climb. By the way, he didn't think that we should hike just a little way but to the top of one of the flat iron mountains ( If you have ever been to boulder you know what I am talking about!). So we start hiking, Aiden carrying 5 cars in a backpack, I was carrying Hunter in a backpack, and Christopher carrying the extra backpack carrier in case Aidens determination gave out. Well, after Aiden ran the first quarter mile, the trail got steeper. It was like going up a set of stairs. Did this deter our Diego want-a-be. Of course not! We had to make him stop every ten minutes to drink water and pour it on his bright red cheeks. We continued to climb for about a mile and a quarter before he finally started slowing down. We decided to start back down hill before he completely died. Halfway back down he said that we wanted his back pack to turn into a snowboard to slide down the mountain! Overall, our three year old lazy boy walked 2 and a half miles! 2 and a half! The last measured distance that we walked together was 1 mile! The rest of the night he was bushed. I think that he would hike everyday if we let him.

That is so cute! Our kids--okay mostly Milo--love to hike too. They call it "going on a 'venture". Isn't it so much more fun when you can see it all through their eyes?
